Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:18-20, NIV)
Jesus calls us all followers of His to share their faith with others. College is a unique time in life where students are staring to discover the big questions in life: "What is my purpose in life?", "Is there a God?", "Does God like me?", etc. We at Cru want to make you feel equipped to share your faith wherever the Lord calls you so we've provided resources and links below!
Starting a conversation
Starting the conversation can be one of the hardest parts! Cru came up with a survey that can be an easy transition to start a conversation called The Quest Survey. An example of a conversation starter can be this...
You: "Hi. My name is Nick and this is my partner Aaron. We're with a Christian group on campus called Cru and we're out talking to people about spirituality. We have this short 5 question survey and we're wondering if you can help us out and we can do it with you."
Quest Survey is only one method of introducing the conversation. Below, find links to apps from Cru that are different ways to lead into sharing the Gospel.
Usually a modified deck of cards, this app will be like a game which allows you and the person whom you are sharing with to understand each other's beliefs
Usually a stack of pictures, this app is a great creative tool to get to know someone and where they are at spiritually
SJSU has a large international student population. The Jesus Film Project has translated the book of John into over 1,500 languages and dialects that can be used to introduce people to Jesus. Most videos are over an hour long so it's not recommended that you watch together, but works great to share the video with them via text or email and follow up to see how it went
This app has Knowing God Personally, Four Spiritual Laws, and Satisfied? booklets on it. This can be used to share the Gospel, but not effective as a stand-alone tool. Start the conversation using one of the ways above!
